Being a nurse, I love finding out what other nurses are doing in the spiritual/holistic space. I happened upon an awesome facebook page called The Nurses Shift, run by an amazing nurse named Rebecca, who has her own spiritual jewelry line and informative blog. I reached out to her and she offered to guest blog for me! So here is a great post on black tourmaline, a protective stone that Rebecca has found helpful in her own life: Black Tourmaline, known as Schorl, is a very powerful gemstone that every-person can benefit from wearing, and here is why: Black Tourmaline keeps an electric charge, as it is pyroelectric (meaning it can generate electricity when heated), as well as piezoelectric (meaning it can store an electrical charge), causing it to release negative ions and far infrared radiation - these are very beneficial for health. This incredible stone is associated with protection, grounding, health, happiness, luck, and positivity. Black tourmaline has been used since ancient times by Shamans and healers for protection. Black Tourmaline is considered by many to be the most powerful protective stone and it is one of the only stones that protects and heals on all levels - physical, emotional, mental and spiritual. Since I discovered Black Tourmaline not a day goes by that I don’t wear it. And, if I do forget to wear it, I can FEEL the difference, and I am reminded of why I always have it near or on me. Black Tourmaline Quite Literally ROCKS Following are just some of its incredible benefits:
➢ Protects from negative energies - transmutes negative energies of all kinds (including thoughts) into positive energies. ➢ Receives the negative energy or psychic attack, and transmutes it BACK to the sender. For more information on negative energies see my blog post (Link) ➢ Shields from harmful electromagnetic radiation—from TVs, computers and mobile phones—by emitting a small electric current. ➢ Strengthens immunity ➢ Relieves stress and anxiety ➢ Promotes detoxification ➢ Increases alertness ➢ Supports organs ➢ Eliminates toxic heavy metals ➢ Helps circulation ➢ Improves metabolism ➢ Improves self-confidence ➢ Grounds energies - associated with root chakra ➢ Balances and clears chakras and aura. Who will benefit from Black Tourmaline? EVERYONE - there are many reasons why virtually everyone would benefit from wearing black tourmaline. We are in constant contact with other people and their energies, especially in the workplace and the protective properties of Black Tourmaline does wonders in keeping you balanced, grounded, and free from picking up negative or unwanted energies from the environment. Black Tourmaline is a must-have for anyone working in healing professions. Those working with sick or mentally ill people will benefit as these people literally “suck” energy from you, if you are not protected. I am lucky that I discovered Black Tourmaline early in my nursing career - hospitals are full of negative, heavy energies, as well as entities that Black Tourmaline will protect you from. Hospitals are not the only places with negative energies - stressful environments and all workplaces are full of energies that you don’t want to bring home with you. Even if you don’t work in a stressful environment, Black Tourmaline helps to keep your own energies balanced and positive. Another reason you want to wear Black Tourmaline is for all its amazing health and healing properties. In addition to wearing Black Tourmaline, it should also be kept in the house - in the bedroom, under your pillow, near the computer. I even keep a big piece in my car – who doesn’t need protection while driving? How is Black Tourmaline worn? Black Tourmaline should always be worn on the left side of the body; this is because energies enter the aura through the left side. One way is by having a chunk in your pocket, this is what I used to do, but the problem is I would go through so much tourmaline because it would fall out and I would end up losing it.
